There are a couple of Suffolk Honeyball but the only recorded death of a W.C.Honeyball is this man,but no Elveden connection yet found.

Wilfred Chennell Honeyball was born in 1887 in Teynham, Kent (Faversham Q2-1887 2A:12), baptised in Teynham on 20th May 1887, son of Frederick Thomas and Kate HONEYBALL (née CHENNELL).

1891 census...Aged 4, he was at 4 St George's Place, Deal with his mother [32] born Stockwell, London; his aunt, Clara H CHENNELL [33] born Stockwell; sisters Muriel K [6] born Teynham and Doris.M. [2] born Deal and brother Frederick R[3 months] born Deal. Also Ellen M HONEYBALL ][17]born East Langdon, recorded as nurse, apparently his aunt. His father Frederick HONEYBALL [33] an auctioneer born Teynham, was visiting brother Frank [30] coal merchant and wife Annie, at Greenstreet, Lynsted.

1901 census...Aged 14, he was at 37 West Hill, St. Pancras with his uncle and aunt, Edward Harding [42] schoolmaster born Lincoln and Minnie Eliza KELLY [37] born Teynham.

1911 census...Aged 24, an assistant private secretary, he was at his uncle Edward KELLY's school at Cholmeley House, Highgate. His parents; sisters Doris Mary, Margaret Ellen and Joan; brother Frederick Ralph and Edward Rex [8] born Deal, were at "Byedownie", Temple Ewell, nr Dover.

In 1914 he married Mabel THALLON in St. Mary's Finchley, they lived at 14 Wessex Gardens, Golder's Green, London


He was commissioned on 28th August 1917.
His unit had 29 killed on this day, the first day of the German Spring Offensive. The war diary has not been located as yet.
